Xander Schauffele claimed his second major on Sunday at the 152nd British Open in Scotland, two months after winning his first major at the PGA Championship. Schauffele closed with a bogey-free 6-under 65 to win by two shots over Billy Horschel and Justin Rose, with a 9-under 275 total. His performance included key birdies on the 11th, 13th, and 14th holes, and no bogies in the final round.
Schauffele becomes the first golfer since 1934 to have multiple final rounds of 65 or better in majors in the same year. He’s also the first player since 2018 to win two majors in one season, and the first since 2015 to win his first two majors in the same season. This championship marks the seventh consecutive major won by an American, and the first time since 1982 that Americans swept all four majors.
