Dodgers celebrate 8th World Series title with massive parade in L.A.

After defeating the Yankees in a wild Game 5, the Dodgers celebrated their World Series victory with millions of fans in downtown Los Angeles. It was the team’s first parade in 36 years, after having been unable to commemorate the 2020 win due to the pandemic.

An estimated 2 million fans attended the parade. The massive turnout shocked players who marveled at the record-setting crowd size. Shohei Ohtani said he was “overwhelmed” by the support. The celebration culminated with a rally at Dodgers Stadium, featuring performances by Ice Cube and iconic LA anthems like “I Love L.A..”

For many, the parade was not just a celebration of the recent win, but also an overdue festivity for the 2020 season which was overshadowed by COVID-19 restrictions. The event was especially meaningful for players like veteran Clayton Kershaw, who described it as the “best feeling in the world” despite being unable to contribute in the post-season due to injury. Kiké Hernández proudly echoed his prediction of the team becoming a dynasty.

With aspirations to make the 2020s a “Decade of the Dodgers” – and stars like Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman, Shohei Ohtani, and Tommy Edman set to return – the team is aiming to become the MLB’s first repeat champion since the Yankees’ threepeat in 2000.
