MLB’s final four is set: Mets vs. Dodgers, Yankees vs. Guardians

Cleveland secured the final ALCS spot on Saturday by defeating the Detroit Tigers in Game 5, with Lane Thomas hitting a grand slam off Cy Young contender Tarik Skubal. The Guardians will now face the New York Yankees who advanced after beating the Royals in Game 4, powered by a strong performance from Gerrit Cole and key hits by Giancarlo Stanton and Gleyber Torres.

In the NLCS, the New York Mets will take on the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Mets paved their way to the championship series by defeating Philly in Game 4 of the NLDS. The Dodgers clinched their spot after prevailing in must-win Games 4 and 5 of the ALDS over divisional rival San Diego.

Earlier in the Wild Card series, Detroit knocked out Houston, ending the Astros’ streak of 7 consecutive ALCS appearances. In the NL Wild Card round, the Padres swept the Braves, and the Mets secured their first playoff series win since 2015 by defeating the Brewers in a decisive Game 3.

The NLCS between the Mets and Dodgers starts tonight on FOX. The ALCS between the Yankees and Guardians kicks off Monday on TBS.
