The Florida Panthers won their first Stanley Cup with a 2-1 victory over the Edmonton Oilers in Game 7. Early goals from Carter Verhaeghe and Mattias Janmark set the stage for a thrilling match, but Sam Reinhart’s goal in the second period secured the win.
The Panthers avoided an historic collapse after leading the series 3-0 as the Oilers pushed it to a Game 7 for only the third time in NHL history. Florida became the third team in 40 years to win the Cup after losing in the Finals the previous year.
Captain Aleksander Barkov received the Cup from NHL commissioner Gary Bettman and handed it to Bobrovsky, acknowledging his outstanding performance. Coach Paul Maurice celebrated his first Stanley Cup win.
Despite a losing effort in the Finals, Edmonton Oilers superstar Connor McDavid was awarded the Conn Smythe Trophy as the playoff’s MVP.
