The NBA is finalizing a trio of media rights deals totaling $76 billion over 11 years – with ESPN, NBC, and Amazon. That would average nearly $7 billion per year, a 2.5-fold increase over the NBA’s current annual rights fees.
ESPN will pay $2.6 billion annually, up from $1.5 billion, and will air games on its new direct-to-consumer service launching in 2025. NBC will pay $2.5 billion per season for 100 games, with up to half on its streaming platform Peacock. Amazon will pay $1.8 billion annually for regular season, playoff games, and tournaments. These deals await team owners’ approval and would start in the ’25-26 season.
