Charges Dropped Against Scottie Scheffler for Insufficient Evidence

Criminal charges against the world’s #1 golfer, Scottie Scheffler, have been dropped due to ‘lack of evidence’. On May 17th, Scheffler was arrested for allegedly accelerating his SUV and dragging Louisville police officer Bryan Gillis to the ground, causing injuries to his wrist and knee. The incident occurred while Scheffler was trying to navigate around a traffic jam caused by a fatal accident involving a shuttle bus.

Scheffler faced four charges including felony second-degree assault of a police officer. In court, the evidence showed that while the officer acted out of concern for public safety, Scheffler’s actions did not constitute any criminal offenses. The case’s dismissal corroborates Scheffler’s claim that the incident was “just a big misunderstanding.”

The golfer expressed no ill will toward officer Gillis, and emphasized his respect for police officers and the difficult job they have to do. Scheffler also offered condolences to the family of the man who was tragically killed on the day of the incident.
